Revere Bell of Plymouth Mass, 1801 & 1896

History of the bell Elizabeth Russell, the daughter of a Pilgrim, had the original bell cast to replace the drum that was used to call parishioners to church. The original bell was broken and the fragments were saved and recast by Paul Revere's descendants. The new bell weighs 1,000 pounds and has the inscriptions "Revere and Sons 1801" and "Blake Bell Co. 1896".
Current status of the bell
The bell is located in the Meetinghouse Tower, which is owned by the Mayflower Society. The town has an easement on the door and room that contains the bell. The bell is rung by pulling a rope or programming a computer. The bell rings at certain times and on special occasions.
